It was our first trip to St. Maarten and we really didn't have high expectations. As I've read in other reviews, that I can attest to, the property is spread out so you may have a long walk to where you're going on the resort. Secondly, the restaurants were fairly inexpensive in comparison to other restaurants we've eaten at on the island. There is enough variety that you be able to try different things nightly. The attendants that schedule the property tours were the worst of the staff. Most were either rude or indifferent to our needs. They require you to have a card to exchange for a beach towel and you better have it with you or you're not getting a towel. Anything you needed to ask them for was an inconvenience. One young lady rolled her eyes when my wife asked for an extra towel. Moral of the story; if you think the island slogan " the friendly island" is indicating the staff at this location, you're badly mistaken.
Stayed her July 11th -the 18th with my bestfriend . very accomadating hotel and lots to do on the resort and off. Folks were the friendliest Ive ever met !. Enjoyed our stay here and looking forward to returning! Only thing didn't care to much for the food on the resort not many choices and was food I ate back home . finally had some island food and it was good. The night life is truly amazing they know how to have a good time ..
Just returned from a very enjoyable 2 weeks at Divi Little Bay. Extremely friendly and helpful staff and some terrific musical entertainment. Best beach on St. Marten. Lunch at the Sea Breeze was great. Can't wait to return.
I have very mixed views on our stay at Divi. The resort itself is very pretty and well maintained. Our room was nice and it was nice having a small kitchen to fix breakfast in the morning. There is a store on-site where you can buy a few staples eggs, milk, toiletries, etc, as well as beer and liquor. I read some reviews before we left of some people complaining about how spread out the resort is and having a long walk back and forth to their room. And it is spread out and can be a long walk to the room but you're walking on a Caribbean island so I didn't mind. They do have a guy on a golf cart that will take you back and forth. Our room was on the Great Bay side, which is the windward side so the wind was always blowing on our patio which made if difficult to eat out there (blew my muffin on the floor the first morning). House keeping did a good job keeping the room cleaned up. There was a power outage for around 45 minutes one night and after that the air conditioning never worked very well. They said they sent someone to check it out and they found no problem but as we were checking out another guest from our building was complaining about the a/c, so it wasn't just us. The beach is on the Little Bay side and is very calm. There is no beach service but you can get drinks at the little pool bar or at Gizmos to take back to the beach. There is a water sports shack where you can rent jet skis and other water related sports activities. The restaurants are where we had the most difficulty. I don't know if it is a cultural thing, or what, but the women working at the resort were never very friendly. The house keeping ladies would always smile and say hello but the wait staff at the restaurants were indifferent at best. The first night we ate at Gizmos and and were waited on by a young man who was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the service went downhill from there. The young lady that helped us the next night at Gizmos acted as if we were putting her out just by being there. She left us the bill and sat staring at us from the next table until we signed the bill. The server the next night at Transocean, while never rude, was just indifferent. The next night at Gizmos my wife just wanted to celebrate her birthday with a sandwich and a beer. It took forever to get served and when we finally got our food it was lukewarm. We had determined not to eat there again but on our last night the place we were going to eat at was closed, so it was back to Gizmos. This time we had a gentleman server and service was fine. We understand "island time" and haven't had a problem at other islands we've been to. I just don't get it. Maybe it is a cultural thing and the women on St Martin are just aloof? We are very easy going and it takes a lot to get us upset, but the service at the restaurants at this resort are just not worth the bother. Unfortunately the resort isn't really within walking distance of anyplace else to eat so you need to take a cab or drive yourself. So, as I said, I have mixed feelings about our stay. I would give the service 2 stars and the property/room 4 stars, so I'm giving 3 stars for our stay. You would think that as hard as they try to sell time shares to their property they would be a little more attentive to the customer service aspect of their business. The rooms and property were nice and if the restaurants would step up their game, even just a little, it would make me want to go back. But if we go back to St Martin I think we'll look for somewhere else to stay.
This resort is just fabulous. Every room has the perfect view! Its clean, in a great location, excellent beach, and has just about everything you could possibly need. You don't need to go anywhere for snorkeling because the snorkeling right off the beach and a short swim to the 4 piers was just PHENOMENAL (you can see the sunken helicopter, anchor, front of small airplane, submarine and much more)!! My only complaint is the bar staff with the exception of Victor and the older gentleman at Sea breeze Café. The bar staff at Gizmos are very rude- they ignore you all the time!! Doesn't matter time of day or who is working they are just not friendly and make you feel as if you are bothering them. And we tipped every time and tipped well. I wish we would have stopped tipping but we didn't. The front desk was nice and helpful. And the reason why I did not complain was because of two incredible guys Alexandre and Victor. These two make you feel welcome! I wish the other staff were even half like these two. So THANK YOU VERY MUCH Alexandre and Victor.
