Ratings & Reviews
We just returned from a one week stay at the Royal Palm Beach Resort in beautiful St Martin / Saint Maarten from May 13-20. This was our 6th visit there so that should already speak volumes about what we think of the resort and island as a vacation destination. Those visits don't even include numerous port stops there on cruise ships. We absolutely love it there and our preference has been to visit in November around Thanksgiving time or May before Memorial Day when it is typically less crowded. A general overview of the many positive comments about our vacation. The Royal Palm Beach Resort is in an absolutely beautiful location with a gorgeous view of Simpson Bay from all rooms. This stay we were in unit 8504 on the side closest to the bridge. The rooms are not luxurious but nicely done and well equipped for your stay. We have always stayed in a 2 bedroom / 2 bath unit with balcony. WIFI in the room - an onsite restaurant and bar - onsite complementary self serve laundromat - 24/7 gym facilities - and a mid-week room cleaning are among the amenities available at the resort to enhance your stay. The pool is small but adequate with a swim-up bar with a nice BOGO happy hour similar to most local bars. There are quite a few lounges under cover around the pool as well as some in the sun. The activity personnel were very nice and constantly trying to engage the guests. There was a published activity schedule with plenty to keep children and adults busy if desired. The beach area is nice with plenty of lounges and umbrellas. It is only is a short cab ride from the SXM airport and within easy walking distance you will find a ton of local bars & restaurants and several grocery stores, markets and liquor stores. There are many locations to get a rental car nearby but with local minibus transportation so readily available and reasonably priced taxis we have never felt we needed a rental car. During this visit we managed to eat at Skip Jacks, The GreenHouse, Little Jerusalem, The French Bakery. Sunset Beach Bar in Maho and a little beach place called the Rib Shack. Those places will be reviewed individually on Trip Advisor but we recommend all of them based on our recent and past experiences. There were minor inconveniences with check-in and check-out and a few maintenance / housekeeping issues that were resolved during this stay. We are already planning our return visit in 2018 and highly recommend you check out this resort and beautiful island.
The Royal Palm Beach Resort is in a great location and all rooms overlook beautiful Simpson Bay. We were there the first week in May and the weather was perfect and crowds to a minimum. I would not want to stay there during peak season because there is just one small pool and one bar & restaurant at this resort. Plenty of great restaurants within walking distance and they have a complimentary van take you to their sister resort.
The resort was nice. It was easy to book, we booked it through our time share (Divi). When we checked in, we requested a room on the ground floor. We got a two bedroom unit. The rooms were clean and the kitchen was fully stocked with basic utensils. I was happy that there was a dish washer, I used it everyday! The best part of being on the ground floor, we were able to walk out to the beach and the pool at our convenience. Please note there are a few grills on the grounds that guess could use at their convenience. We tried to book a few excursions through the concierge but quickly realized it would be cheaper to rent a car and explore the island on our own. We renedt a jeep wangler and had a great time. We drove to the french side to do activities everyday. We did not have to pay for parking at the resort! The resort is perfectly located that if you just wanted to relax your entire vacation and not do too much, there are plenty of restaurants withing walking distance of the resort. There is a supermarket close by as well. The resort staff was friendly for the most part. There is a free laundry room that guest have 24 hour access to. Please note you have to get the special tokens from the staff to use the machines. Guest are responsible to maintain and clean their own units daily. However, I know they will send someone to the units to collect garbage and change the sheets for guest that stay 4 days or longer. The gym needs some updating but I made it work for me for the few days that I used it. Most days I just took a walk instead of working out in the gym.
Our two bedroom oceanfront unit was very nice. The kitchen had everything you would need to cook, although more than one larger bowl would have been nice. It was great sitting out on the deck with coffee or a cocktail and hear the waves and watch the harbour activity. The staff were exceptionally helpful and service oriented. I would return.
lovely room great views from both bedrooms great fully stocked kitchen large showers the staff was very helpful the pool and bar area is sooo nice good location close to the airport we had the best time will be back again next year
