We just arrived home after a two week visit in SXM. We stayed at Sea Palace and we thoroughly enjoyed the suite, brand new furniture with an absolute breathtaking view of Great Bay. Crystal clear blue ocean steps from the Sea Palace. The Sea Palace was spotless clean and had everything we needed to make our vacation just wonderful. I particularly liked to see the cruise ships coming and going while enjoying an early morning coffee on the balcony. We loved the Honky Tonk which is steps from the beach. Great food no matter what we ordered. Service was also excellent. Shops, restaurants, liquor store and grocery store all within walking distance. We did one excursion which was a catamaran to Anguilla. This is a must do. An incredible day of sailing on the Sugar Rush to Rendevous Bay in Anguilla where we were treated to a wonderful buffet lunch and an afternoon of swimming followed by more sailing, good music and cheese and crackers. A full day of paradise! This was our 2nd trip to this beautiful island and won't be our last.
The staff at this hotel are very helpful. They assisted us with places to go and see and how to get around in the local bus. We had emailed the hotel previous to our stay to ask for the highest room overlooking the sea... we got a room on the first floor overlooking the road. Anyway, if you like to be woken up every morning between 0700 and 0730 with the beep beep of horns from cars and the shouting of the local shop keepers then thats fine. Luckily we are early risers! The room was very adequately furnished. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was lovely and spacious with clean towels every day. The kitchen was perfect with microwave, kettle and a huge fridge freezer. The hotel didn't look very full when we were there but I believe many rooms are timeshares. One huge downside to this hotel is that they charge for wifi in the rooms and anywhere infact. Not even to have free wifi in the reception area is terrible in this day and age. We had read about the various bars and restaurants around this hotel and they all read great but what we didn't appreciate was that these places are only open from 10am till about 5pm when all the cruise ship guests had left! After this time the place is like a ghost town. There are a handful of places that stay open but none have a 'buzzing' atmosphere so very disappointed. Most nights we got on a local bus 2 blocks back from the hotel and went to Simpson Bay for $1.50 each one way. Perfect, watched the yachts in the marina, happy hour, lots going on and the place had an atmosphere. I would choose to stay in Simpson Bay area if I ever went back.
Great staff, very friendly..information breakfast a must.. Right on the beach, what more can you ask for.. The apartments are clean and well equipped Fresh towels and chairs are provided for you for the beach Really nice view of the bay.
Full disclosure - I own a 1+ bedroom timeshare, week 14 at this property. All units newly remodeled, with new kitchens, baths and washing machines/dryers. New furniture to be installed in all units by May, 2017 (mine is one of the last units). Staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable of the island and willing to help. The beach is just steps from the door and shopping and restaurants too. There is parking available for a fee, for a limited number of vehicles through the Chinese restaurant on the lobby level.
If you are looking for a quit place right in downtown St Maartin, the Sea Palace is your place. The entire building, rooms and furniture have been renovated. At the foot of the ocean just sit and enjoy the cruise ships coming in. Take a swim and walk downtown. Enjoy the boardwalk, the shops and all the restaurants.Welcome to my second home.
