Amazing resort, so sad about it being hit by hurricane

We stayed here for our honeymoon in August and had an amazing trip. The staff here were wonderful and went above and beyond for us. The food was very good at the buffet and all the alacart's, we actually liked the buffet food so much we cancelled one of our alacart reservations. This wasn't a huge resort it was on the smaller side which we liked, we stayed on the top floor and had an amazing ocean view, I walked out every morning on the beach and watched the sunrise before hubby woke up. Iw was so cool to travel up and down in the all glass elevator too.The gym was open 24 hours so I could work out and watch the sunrise also or watch the cruise ships arrive and leave. Right outside the gym they always had a coffee station and mimosas set up in the morning, so very good! There was amazing shopping within walking distance and we had a good time going in and out of the shops. We toke a local bus over to the sister resort I think it cost us $2 and it was so fun to travel with the locals and see how they get around. We truly loved the entertainment staff here too, we had fun playing bingo in the pool, playing flip cup, trivia at the swim up bar and bocce on the beach. I won a necklace and my husband won a bottle of rum on a few different days, it was so much fun. The staff here really worked so hard, and were always so very friendly even just walking in to the breakfast buffet, the greeter always took a minute to talk to us and ask what we were up to for the day and what adventures we may have had the day before. We met with so many of the staff here including the manager taking a few moments to say hi and get to know us, we like to take 1 big trip a year and this place and this resort were my favorite so far. It truly is the friendly island and you feel at home here. I hope they are able to rebuild and the staff all made it out of there okay. Our prayers have been with them.

This was a beautiful hotel in July 2017, before the hurricane

Our room was on the 7th floor ocean front. Room 725. The view was amazing. The only non favorable part was dinner reservations. The machine always said all restaurants were full. After speaking to someone, they did let us in. Would be nice to have a free shuttle to the sister resort.. Hopefully they will rebuild. This was such a beautiful location!

After the hurricane

I stayed at this resort 4 years ago and have heard very little of the recovery happening at this resort since the hurricanes of the Fall of 2017. I stopped here with high anticipation on a recent cruise, knowing I would be able to walk over and survey the damage. My heart sank as I approached - it's devastated. It doesn't look like any work is happening, though the beach area has been cleaned up. It's my understanding that Sunwing purchased the resort shortly before the hurricanes happened. I really hope they are able to invest in the renovations and rebuilding of this property. I have great memories of this island due to the people who worked at this resort, and they need to be employed and I know people will return to this beautiful island. Here are some photos of what I saw from the beach...

Beautiful St. Maarten

We stayed at this resort the week of the storm. We were fortunate to have been evacuated the day of the hurricane only losing 2 days of our vacation. This was a great resort and hopefully will be rebuilt soon. Location was perfect, walking distance to town, beautiful beach. Service was excellent. Size was just right and the best it was adults only. Rooms were a little tired and needed renovations but everything was very clean. Looking forward to coming back to this beautiful island.

ok but not great

We stayed here August 2017 just prior to the hurricane. Great hotel if you just want to chill. Great beach, service, excellent food and accommodations but lacking in activity and entertainment. It was pretty sleepy. The sister property in Maho Bay had a much better vibe. Our room was clean and comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful, shout out to Melissa! Great hostess and was happy to accommodate your requests and even helpful/resourceful with tours! She set us up with Cowboy who took us for a day tour of the island! thanks Melissa for your great smile and positive attitude!
