Ratings & Reviews
I thoroughly had a great time at this all inclusive resort. The staff were amazing and very welcoming. The rooms were comfy. I had a great time at the pool and loved the nightly entertainment. The best part was the activities they had available for the kids. The kiddie pool and playground (indoor and outdoor ). I would definitely recommend this place and will be visiting again.
Stayed at this resort May 18-25, do not know why people complain! I found this resort incredible! Checkin was flawless. Was there with my mother who walks with a walker and was given a ground floor room. It was recently upgraded and was beautiful! Loved the rain shower! We found the staff to be friendly and very helpful. Ate at the Lava Rock restaurant and enjoyed it very much! The pool was wonderful and swim up bar service was great despite the reviews I read. This island is so beautiful and friendly I would definitely go back and definitely stay at the Maho again! No complaints here!
I will start by saying I was a little skeptical going in to this 4 day getaway because of the recent reviews I had here, I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I got there about an hour before check in and was told room was ready. We got a cold towel and a glass of champagne while waiting since it was very hot. Everyone in the lobby was very nice and all our questions were answered without any issues. We didn't have a view at all but that for me its not a break it or make it feature since I barely spend anytime in rooms when I'm on vacation. 4th floor room, updated, beautiful bathroom, stocked fridge with soda, water and beer. We also had a full bottle of GYN and one of Vodka on our table. There are 4 restaurants available in the property, I only ate on 2 of them and again no complaints there. I will say that for breakfast the service could have been better with the waiters coming thru more often for the coffee but other than that. Plenty of food to pick from and variety from night to night. We made a reservation for dinner at The Palms Grill for their Lava Rock Dinner and it was amazing, I recommend to try it at least once during your visit. I was told by the waitress there that they close dome nights due to the rocks having to be heated up in ovens for 24 for the dinner and however many hours they need to cool them down to be cleaned and used again for the next dinner. Used the swim up bar and met the famous Ramon, I can see now why everyone have nothing but great things to say about him. I went to the beach to watch the airplanes and had an amazing time. Nothing can compare to the experience!! Bucket list!! We took a taxi to Phillipsburg and the driver was very knowledgeable and told us all about the history and other things about the island. Not too many shops opened but I found out that their busy season its Nov thru March when all the cruise ships come in. Only one was docked there on that Sunday. Not impressed with the guavaberry coladas but did have some amazing drinks while there. We also did the couple massage at the spa and again awesome experience!! So glad I got to experience this beautiful island and its great people. Will definitely go again .
I consider myself a frequent traveler visiting more than 45 cities in the world trying to know cultures and hospedan in different Hotels but this time it is the first one that I feel extremely stressed staying in The Sonesta Maho Hotel . When you get to the lobby you look like the movies of the 80s, not to mention the corridors and facade of public housing in the USA. The buffet was bad, the first day only had chicken, corn, and potato in the restaurat. My room all the time smelled of sewer. The complimentary room only with soda and water. The hotel does not have a beach, it is a public beach and the pools are shared for both hotels. The entertainment and the activities at night inside the hotel are null. The employees are highly rude and in a bad mood all the time. My biggest concern was that at all times they made you feel like a criminal because everyone at the hotel directed you and told you that you could not go to this side and to the other, where you paid for a hotel that is in two facilities together and you feel confused To know what you are On an ocassion between a pool and I was pulled out like a criminal, called security guards and told me that I could not be there because that belonged to another hotel. I am not satisfied with the personal of the property , the manager of the Hotel Ocean Point was very unprofessional to treat the Situation Not the way to promote a hotel and give it a higher category. My concern was all the time knowing where I was because there was no division and the two properties were in the same space sharing almost everything for them to make you feel low category by showing that the Ocean point was superior. I was not interested in the Ocean point Hotel, I wanted to stay in my hotel, I wanted to enjoy the facilities of my hotel. Why do not they put division? I wouldn't recommend this place at all if you are looking for relax.
The hotel is being remodeled; however I didn't hear any construction noise which was good. The room was very clean & bathroom was very modern. Great pool with swim-up bar. Food was average with exception of The Point which was very good. Overall, the service was horrible with a few exceptions. (I'm sorry that I don't remember their names.) Almost impossible to get a refill on drinks, especially a Coke! All restaurants weren't open every evening for dinner. Need to make reservations which was difficult with few restaurants & several resort guests. We loved the resort itself, but everything else was below par. We were told by an outside source that the owner's son had taken over management & they'd heard several complaints about it going down since. The mini bar is stocked daily with rum, vodka, gin, bud light, coke, Diet Coke, sprite & water. Overall, it was a nice stay, but I expected more for the price. If we return to St. Maarten, will look at another resort.
