Traveled with my sister and her kids, we were a party of 7 people. Check in was fast and easy. Greeted by Cedric and his warm smile as he handed us a warm towel and a glass of campaign. Rooms on the upper floors are updated, go with pool front for a nice view and a quite nights sleep. AC in the room has 2 settings, full blast cold or off. I would turn off most of the day and keep it running at night. Humidity is high and the direct sun will make the room very warm. We were in room 656 and I could keep AC off during the day. Our room was nicely updated, new beds and furniture. Bathroom was clean and maid service arrived daily to replace towels and make the beds. The grounds were kept clean and the staff works hard to accommodate. We found most people friendly and helpful. Look for Cheryl and Sandra at the bar. Cedric at the front desk and Lilly in the Ocean Point breakfast buffet. Patricio hands out the towels every day, say hello and he will greet you with a smile. The guys who manage the luggage are also very friendly and helpful. The beach here is narrow, the surf and undertow is strong. This is a beach for good swimmers, not young children who can be unsupervised. We watched an elderly couple get tossed into the rocks one morning. The undertow is unforgiving, so be careful. Take the 15 min walk to Mullet Bay Beach, where the surf is a bit calmer. It's worth the walk. Activities for the kids is minimal. My recommendation is that the find more things for kids to do, especially for those 10-15. My kids never complained because the love the beach and the pool, but after 5 days the do get bored doing the same thing. Grounds are lovely, the view is fantastic and you will not get bored watching the planes land at the airport. Takeoff is especially interesting as hats and towels get plunged into the ocean as the jet engines fire off. Restaurants are hit or miss. We did not like the Chinese place, but the Ocean Point and Lava Rock restaurant were great. Typical buffet style breakfast and lunch, you will always find something and we certainly didn't starve. My recommendation to the hotel is that they have a smoking area versus having everyone stand by the doors. The smoke from the cigarettes carries into the hotel lobby and makes it smoke filled and smelly. We had a great time. Is it a "world class" resort...no. You want Ritz Carlton, then don't expect that here. It's a nice place for families and we really enjoyed our time.
Returned April 13 after 2 week visit. Great holiday as usual! Big thanks to Bettina, Elisha and Edward for the awesome service. The only reason we might not return is the total lack of entertainment on the resort in the evenings. Other than the small casino off the lobby there was nothing to do on the resort, Much needed entertainment staff and a nightly show could really change our minds and bring us back!
Serenity Spa was a great experience! My daughter and I treated ourselves to facials. I had Irene and she could not have been nicer! She took her time to make my visit a heavenly experience. The room was beautiful, quiet music and low lighting set the tone. I came away pampered and relaxed. Irene did left me feeling cared for and my skin had a youthful glow. Afterwards she did my pedicure. I was blessed to have met Irene and would highly recommend her to anyone. If I ever get a chance to come back to Serenity Spa I am definitely asking for her.
Location Location Location! Says it all , no matter what a resort has to offer, if you are located on the world famous Maho Beach in St Maarten where the airplanes fly in low right over your head for the adrenaline rush, your resort could be a success! With that said, I booked a day pass at the Sonesta Maho Beach resort (all inclusive) including food and alcoholic beverages. The resort seemed a bit dated, and was probably a swinging place at one time. The resort employees were polite, and the Restaurant Supervisor came out to greet my family and I to make sure we were ok. Meals: The entrees offered were decent, nothing to get up and scream about, but they could use some help with the omelette station, very slow and long lines. There were several restaurants to choose from although a few of the specialty restaurants were not available because they open in the evening, so we had to choose from the two restaurants by the Beach. Drinks: were decent, just as an All Inclusive resort would offer. Can't speak on the rooms, or suites because I did not sleep in this resort, just used the day pass which is like staying at the resort but with no room, they give you towels and so forth, but from the looks of the lattice balcony, this resort could use an update, although the grounds were well kept. Beware: at the out door eating areas there are lots of annoying birds waiting for you to walk away so that they can eat your food, ð Highlights: Maho Beach Experience! Yes this resort is located right on Maho Beach. The Location of this resort out weighs any updates needed, swim-able ocean right in front of you, airplanes coming in, restaurants and bars just steps away. All in all I would probably book the day pass again simply because of the location and watching all those airplanes come in, very enjoyable. Cost: the day pass cost is reasonable for a family of 4 with adult pricing and children 12 and under pricing, just go to the website: resortforaday.com for actual cost.
We just came back from here " April the 9th. ... loved it. I've been travelling for 20 years , besides St Lucia it was amazing.... food " drinks and weather was awesome!! The ocean is alittle off balance as I almost drown however thank god ffor my husband for saving me. We didn't like this one thing set us back. I'm going back in sept. Loved it. The only thing I would advise is don't take a room with odd numbers " the baloney faces the tank then holds the waste ... that's all the negative I have about that place
