Love this resort. Everyone who works there is so friendly and helpful. We love the pools, the beach, the gym, the pool bars, and all who work there. They are making great progress with repairs after Hurricane Irma. The Villas were perfect where we stayed.

Returning to St Maarten after devastating Hurricane Irma

We stayed at one of the beach front units, the view was fantastic of the sea and the bay. The unit was clean with a full kitchen and full sized appliances. We counted 24 beach front units and I would say that only 3 were functioning, repair was being done on the other units. We heard that some of the marina units were opening up while we were there. The bed was very comfortable and the housekeeping staff was very accommodating when I asked for a flatter pillow and an extra lounge chair for the patio. The staff would clean up the debris from the water on the beach every morning and were very attentive to the needs of the sunbathers. The A/C unit in the bedroom was noticeably loud so I wore ear plugs. Wifi, electric and TV connection were functioning at 100%. One complaint would be that outside workers and security guards would carry on conversations near our unit at times when there would otherwise be quiet. Bar staff was friendly and accommodating. The water was rough the week we were there so not a lot of activity in the water at the shore. There were rocks at the shore so it was more comfortable to wear sandals when going into the water. Alot of hotels are not open yet since the hurricane, I would estimate only 1/3 are open, we were very happy with the location, accommodations and the view, we would definitely come back to this resort. The traffic is terrible especially on the dutch side and going towards Phillipsburg, lots of turnabouts to get used to. Having a car is a must unless you want to sit at the resort all the time. Marigot is less busy than Phillipsburg but lots of shopping in Phillipsburg especially if you time it when a cruise ship is in port. The resort did have free transportation to Phillipsburg if you didn't have a car. If you are into the night life, the place to hang out is by the beach strip near the airport but Penha the area around the beach there is like a ghost town due to the hurricane, very sad to see.

Very nice resort

My wife and I stayed here for a week. The 1 bedroom suite is very nice with a balcony view of the bay. The TV is old and needs to be updated. The internet WiFi is very poor. The bed is very comfortable and dishes are available for your meals. The pools are very nice and there are tiki huts on the beachside with beach chairs that are free to use. There are plenty of activities to choose from that you can book through the resort. Overall a very nice place to stay. Plan to bring plenty of cash. A lot of times in Simpson Bay Area, credit cards are not accepted or there's a fee involved.

First post Irma visit

Happy to be at the Simpson Bay Resort Villas! Think our timing was perfect!! There's still a lot of work being done here...many Villas are empty! We have a nice balcony overlooking the bay and Kim Sha Beach...can be noisy in the evening and anticipate noise when the Regatta activities begin on Thursday!! The villa is nicely furnished and roomy for a one bedroom...no real complaints! The WiFi works and is strong; the tv in the living room is adequate. There's a newer tv in the bedroom...tried to use our Apple TV box, but it's not working here....worked at LaVista Resort...and the IT guy failed to return our call...oh well, we'll live!! There are a couple pools open. All in all, it's a good place to stay in Sint Maarten!!

I wouldn't stay here again

The rooms are ok, but there are several downsides to the hotel: - if youre lucky there is hot water, if not you have to take cold showers during your stay, what happened to me several times during my stay of 6 days; - you have to pay an additional fee to use the gym of the resort; - they just clean your room every 3 days, so this means no clean towels in between and since there are only two plates, two cups etc, you have to wash your own dishes every day, and you have to buy stuff to do the dishes yourself since there is nothig in the room; - the resort is really big and and it is really not easy to find your way. There are for example no signs indicating the way to the lobby (which is at the 5th floor of another building) so you just walk around lost and have to ask people to show you the way; - you have to pay 250 USD deposit at check in, which I think is a little too much; Considering this, I think this resort is overpriced considering the little services they offer.
